Stripe notifications in Microsoft Teams

Create a Teams workflow that receives a webhook, paste its address, add one endpoint in Stripe: payments, failed invoices and cancellations arrive in the channel as a card.

Getting the webhook address of your Teams channel

  1. In Teams, open the menu of the channel (the three dots) and choose Workflows.
  2. Pick the template that posts to a channel when a webhook request is received, choose the team and the channel, and create the workflow.
  3. Teams shows the address of the workflow. Copy it and paste it above. It is long and contains logic.azure.com or powerplatform.com.

Microsoft is retiring the older "Incoming Webhook" connectors of Office 365 in favour of these workflows. If your address still ends in webhook.office.com, it is accepted here for as long as Microsoft keeps it running, but a workflow is the one to create today. The message is sent as an Adaptive Card with a button that opens the payment in Stripe.

Then, on the Stripe side

  1. After connecting, you get an endpoint address. In your Stripe dashboard, under Developers → Webhooks, add it as an endpoint. Test mode is a good place to start.
  2. Select the events you care about. The dashboard of your connection lists ten that cover payments, failures, subscriptions, refunds and disputes.
  3. Copy the signing secret Stripe shows for the endpoint (it starts with whsec_) and paste it in the dashboard. Events are verified from then on.

Questions

My Office 365 connector stopped working. Is this a replacement?
For Stripe messages, yes. Create a workflow from the "when a webhook request is received" template in the Workflows app of Teams and paste its address here. The message is sent in the Adaptive Card format that workflows expect.
Does it need Power Automate Premium?
The webhook template of the Workflows app in Teams is part of the standard Teams licences at the time of writing. Check with your administrator if the template is not offered in your tenant.
Can Stripe call the Teams workflow directly?
No. The workflow expects an Adaptive Card, not a Stripe event, and it cannot check the Stripe signature. Paybell verifies the event and writes the card.
